Let’s start with the beginning. Our today’s society faces a lot of problems and some of them are related to our increasingly fast and exhausting lifestyle that keeps us constantly on the edge. If you care to succeed, you need to conform and try and keep up. The major problem is that this way of life is the one that destroys our health and we don’t even realize it until it is already too late. People don’t like to visit the doctor for every small problem and they usually chose to treat themselves at home. But, the problem is that there are some health issues that you cannot simply treat on your own and you will need professional treatment if you ever hope to get better. Some health conditions aggravate as the time passes and you will find yourself in the uncomfortable position of developing other more serious affections that will cost you a lot of money and time to heal. Some may never heal.

Then let’s talk about sleep disorders and insomnia. Let me tell you, I have suffered from insomnia and it is not a nice thing to deal with. Actually, the real danger of such medical condition is that it can affect your life and you would not even realize it. You start thinking that some other issues are responsible, when in fact is not getting enough sleep at night that will eventually end up messing with your life. You start feeling more tired throughout the day and you start believing that your working schedule is stretching your capacities, you begin to lose focus and you experience problems in concentrating on small tasks that never bothered you before. Also, you get distracted pretty easily and you find yourself daydreaming more often than not. But what you don’t realize is the fact that all of these problems are strongly related to your inability to have a decent sleep at night.
I don’t think people actually know how bad the situation could get and how influential is this simple condition. It is exactly like keeping a healthy dietary program versus junk-eating on a daily basis. Let’s get one thing straight. You will not be able to change your life for the better if you do not realize the dangers you are subjected to. But don’t worry you are not alone in this. As a matter of fact, there are more than 7 million Americans suffering from insomnia, according to a 2012 study and we have not even got to the worse part. The worst part is that this study I am talking about took place in 2012, but the tendencies were on the rise. This means that today there may be a lot more people going through the same problems. Not to mention the amount of people experiencing insomnia on a global scale.
So the numbers are huge, which means the problem is real and also we acknowledge it as a fact. Now, what is stopping us from taking measures and make sure that no one will go through similar difficulties again? I mean look at the numbers. Do you know what is the most common cause for car accidents besides talking on the phones? No, it is not DUI, it is fatigue. Fatigue makes more casualties than anything else and this means that we have a serious problem in hand. It is up to us to get rid of it, because people are actually dying. Insomnia is as much of a killer as booze is.
I am not going to talk about medications, because there are plenty of people going for this solution and it does not work 100% of the time. Actually, there are a lot of people claiming that the medication has no effect on them. Which transforms insomnia into depression and many end up becoming suicidal. This is the sad truth of our society. People cannot find a cure for such a minor, trivial and petty issue and they take their own lives in exchange. This goes to show that insomnia and sleeping disorders should not be treated lightly, because there are a lot of people suffering from them.
So, in the end, what should you do to get rid of these problems? First of all, try giving up everything that contains caffeine. Includes coffee, sodas and everything of this type. If you can consume them as rare as possible and always in the morning – never in the afternoon or late at night. The reason for this is the fact that caffeine gives you energy and raises the adrenaline levels, which means that you will find it difficult to fall asleep. Another thing that you could do is to go do some daily workouts. Put that body to work and burn some calories. Aside from the obvious beneficial results, you will also experience an increased easiness in falling asleep, because your body has consumed all its energy reserves and you will basically feel exhausted.
Another thing that people don’t think it is that important is you’re eating diet. That is if you have any. If not, get some! It is very important to be careful with how, where, when and what you eat, because the healthier the food that goes in your mouth is, the healthier you will be.
There is one more thing I would like to add and this is something that I have personally experienced. I am not talking based on others’ stories, but from my own experience.
